Impala Black Granite is a sophisticated, finely textured black granite from South India that occupies a distinctive position in the black granite category. Unlike the pure, uniform jet-black of Absolute Black, Impala Black carries a fine distribution of grey and white mineral speckling across its deep black base — tiny crystalline formations that give the stone a subtle, close-grained texture visible up close and a soft, nuanced depth at distance. It is a black that breathes rather than absorbs, and this quality has made it one of the most refined black granites in the international specification market.
Impala Black Granite is quarried from South India, primarily in Chamrajanagar, Karnataka — the same productive granite region that yields Absolute Black. Also known internationally as Indian Nero Impala, Indian Black Impala, Impala Gabbro Granite, and Eagle Black Granite, Impala Black is compositionally distinct from pure black granites: its fine grey and white mineral speckling results from plagioclase feldspar crystals distributed evenly through the dark hornblende and pyroxene matrix. This even, fine-grained crystal distribution gives the stone its characteristic granular texture and the soft luminosity that differentiates it from flat-black stones. It is widely exported to the USA, UK, Europe, and the Middle East, where it is particularly favoured for flooring, countertop, and memorial applications where the texture adds interest without competing with other design elements.
Kitchen & Bathroom: Impala Black’s fine mineral texture gives kitchen and bathroom surfaces a visual refinement that distinguishes it from uniform black alternatives. It reads as sophisticated rather than stark, making it a natural choice for premium residential and hospitality bathroom vanities and kitchen countertops.
Flooring: Impala Black is widely specified for commercial and residential flooring where a textured black stone is preferred over a flat uniform black. The fine speckling adds visual depth and movement to large-format floor installations.
Wall Cladding & Feature Walls: The stone’s fine granular texture creates refined feature wall surfaces in residential and commercial settings where a black stone is specified but uniform flatness would be visually uninspiring.
Exterior & Outdoor: Excellent weather resistance, freeze-thaw performance, and durability make it suitable for exterior paving, steps, and facade cladding in all climates.
Memorials & Monuments: The stone’s fine texture, good polish retention, and refined appearance have made it a globally preferred memorial and monument granite, complementing Absolute Black in high-specification memorial applications.
