The stone

Ivory white with bold, broken black veins

Our White Michelangelo lot has a soft ivory-white base with bold, broken black veins and fine white lines tracing through it. The black veins gather in clusters, so each slab has a few strong moments rather than an all-over pattern.

It is the stone to choose when you want contrast: black-and-white drama at a lower starting price than Statuario or Calacatta.

Because the veins are strong, it pays to choose slabs in person or from lot photos, so the clusters land where you want them on a wall or floor.

Michelangelo pairs well with black fittings, walnut and charcoal joinery. If you prefer softer grey veining on a brighter base, compare it with Statuario; for a quieter, more affordable white, look at Carrara.

Applications

Where Michelangelo marble works

Flooring

Living rooms and lobbies where the black veining can be a feature. Seal after laying.

Walls

Feature walls and book-matched panels make the most of the bold veins.

Kitchen

Striking on an island; seal it, as it etches with acids like any marble.

Bathroom

Black-and-white bathrooms with black or chrome fittings.

Staircase

Pick slabs from one lot so the veining stays consistent.

Buying advice

How to check your Michelangelo is genuine

Ask for the import papers

Every genuine Italian lot arrives with import papers. Ask to see them for the exact lot you are buying, not a sample.

Look at the whole lot

Natural veining changes from slab to slab. Printed tiles and engineered copies repeat the same pattern; real marble never does.

Choose the actual slabs

Buy from slabs you have seen, at the yard or in lot photos of the real lot, not from a catalogue picture or a single sample tile.

Import papers are available for every lot on request.
