Origin and Composition

Flowery Gold Sandstone is a sedimentary stone from the Jodhpur region of Rajasthan, India. Its golden colouration with scattered organic patterning results from the irregular distribution of iron oxide minerals across the quartz matrix — creating the natural ‘flowery’ effect from which it takes its name. The stone has a fine grain structure and good workability.
