Lava Oro Quartzite is a striking and richly characterised natural stone — its name a precise description of its visual character. A deep, volcanic black-grey base is traversed by bold veining in warm gold and amber tones that evoke the movement of molten material through rock, creating a dramatic contrast that few natural stones can match in intensity. Lava Oro is a stone that commands its application: used as a kitchen countertop, a feature wall, or a bar top, it becomes the defining visual element of the space.
At Stone Harbor, we source Lava Oro Quartzite and export in slab and block form to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. It is one of the most visually powerful stones in our quartzite collection and a consistent choice for high-end hospitality and luxury residential projects.
Origin & Composition
Lava Oro Quartzite is a metamorphic stone formed from silica-rich sandstone that has undergone sustained heat and pressure, recrystallising into a dense interlocking quartz structure. The stone’s deep black-grey base results from carbonaceous material, graphite, and dark mineral inclusions within the quartz matrix, while the bold gold and amber veining is produced by iron oxide and secondary mineral infilling of the stone’s natural fracture systems under geological pressure. The juxtaposition of these two mineral processes — dark base and bright gold veining — creates Lava Oro’s signature visual drama.
