Albeta Marble is one of the most distinguished white marbles produced in India — and one of the few natural stones whose reputation is underwritten by the monuments it helped build. Quarried from Makrana in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, Albeta is a variant of the celebrated Makrana marble family, the same stone used in the construction of the Taj Mahal, the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, and the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. What separates Albeta from other Makrana varieties is its signature character: a milky white ground with a warm light-brown texture that runs through the surface, giving it a depth and warmth that pure white stones often lack.
At Stone Harbor, we source Albeta Marble directly from established quarries in the Makrana-Kishangarh belt of Rajasthan and export to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. The stone requires no chemical reinforcement, no resin filling, and no artificial colour treatment — a distinction it holds over many imported white marbles.
Origin & Composition
Albeta Marble is a calcitic metamorphic rock formed from the recrystallisation of limestone under sustained heat and pressure. The Makrana region of Rajasthan — classified as a Global Heritage Stone Resource by the International Union of Geological Sciences — has been quarrying marble for over 400 years. The stone’s characteristic light-brown patterning results from iron oxide and organic mineral inclusions distributed through the calcite matrix. It occurs as part of the Ajmer Formation of the Delhi Supergroup, metamorphosed approximately 1,450 million years ago during the Delhi Orogeny.
Technical Properties
- Stone Type: Calcitic metamorphic marble
- Origin: Makrana, Nagaur district, Rajasthan, India
- Colour: Milky white with warm light-brown textural patterning
- Density: 2.5 – 2.65 g/cm³
- Compressive Strength: 1,800 – 2,100 kg/m²
- Hardness: 3 – 4 on the Mohs scale
- Water Absorption: Less than 1% — lowest among Indian marble varieties
- Porosity: Low
- Weather Resistance: Excellent — no pin holes, no colour change, no polish loss under normal conditions
- Chemical Treatment Required: None — no resin or chemical reinforcement needed
Available Finishes
- Polished: High-gloss mirror finish that deepens the white tone and amplifies the brown patterning. Standard for interior flooring and wall cladding.
- Honed: Smooth matte surface with no reflectivity. Preferred for bathrooms, spa areas, and contemporary minimalist interiors.
- Brushed: Lightly textured surface that softens the stone’s appearance while retaining its natural veining character.
- Bush Hammered: Heavily textured surface for outdoor applications requiring slip resistance.
- Sandblasted: Roughened surface finish for outdoor paving and architectural facade work.
- Antique/Lepatora: Aged appearance with softened edges and a weathered surface — popular in heritage restoration and classical interior design.
- Leather: Textured finish that adds tactile character while maintaining a refined, contemporary appearance.

Albeta Marble from Makrana has stood without deterioration in some of India’s most exposed and trafficked monuments for over four centuries. It requires no chemical reinforcement, retains its polish without pin holes or colour change, and responds beautifully to every standard surface finish. At Stone Harbor, all material is sourced from verified Makrana quarries, inspected for colour consistency and structural integrity, and exported to client specifications.
