Banswara Purple Marble

Banswara Purple Marble is one of the most visually distinctive stones produced in Rajasthan — and arguably one of the most unique white marbles in the world. Where most white marbles offer subtle grey or beige veining, Banswara Purple delivers something altogether different: deep, dramatic purple veins running across a white or light grey base, a combination found only in the Banswara district of southern Rajasthan. That geographical exclusivity is part of what makes this stone so sought after for premium architectural and decorative projects across India and internationally.

At Stone Harbor, we source Banswara Purple Marble directly from quarries in the Banswara district and export it in tile, slab, and block form to clients in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. It is a stone that commands attention in any space it occupies.

Origin & Composition

Banswara Purple Marble is a dolomitic metamorphic marble quarried from the Banswara district in southern Rajasthan — a region that has supplied premium marble to both domestic and international markets for decades. The stone’s characteristic purple veining results from manganese oxide and other mineral impurities distributed through the white calcite-dolomite matrix during the metamorphic process. Each slab carries a unique distribution of purple veins, meaning no two installations are identical. The Tropic of Cancer passes above the Banswara mining region, and the stone’s unusual mineral composition is a direct product of the area’s particular geological setting.
