Dholpur Beige Sandstone

Dholpur Beige Sandstone shares its quarry origin with the most famous red sandstone in the world — the Agra Fort, built from the rich red Dholpur stone that comes from the same geological deposit. Where Agra Red is defined by its bold iron-oxide crimson, Dholpur Beige is its understated counterpart: a warm, clean beige that delivers the same architectural durability with a softer, more neutral aesthetic.

Quarried in the Dholpur district of Rajasthan, this stone has a long history of use in Indian monumental architecture and is now one of the most consistently exported Rajasthani sandstones. At Stone Harbor, we source it directly from Dholpur quarries and process it to international export standards.

Origin and Composition

Dholpur Beige Sandstone is a sedimentary stone from the Dholpur district, Rajasthan, India. Its warm beige colour — ranging from light cream to golden beige with occasional pinkish undertones — results from low iron oxide content in the quartz matrix, in contrast to the high iron oxide concentration that gives Agra Red its deep red colour. Both stones share the same formation process and similarly excellent structural properties.
