Mandana Sandstone is one of the oldest and most architecturally celebrated sandstones quarried in India. Origin and Composition
Mandana Sandstone is a sedimentary stone quarried in the Mandana region of Rajasthan, India. Its deep red-brown colouration is produced by high concentrations of iron oxide (hematite) in the quartz-dominant matrix. The stone has a dense grain structure that gives it exceptional hardness — higher than most other Indian sandstones — and excellent resistance to abrasion and surface wear. Its natural surface provides effective slip resistance even without surface treatment.
