Dona Grey Quartzite

Dona Grey Quartzite is a refined, sophisticated natural stone from Rajasthan’s established quartzite belt — a stone whose cool grey palette and clean natural patterning make it one of the most architecturally versatile quartzites available from India. In a market where dramatic statement stones often take the spotlight, Dona Grey serves a different and equally important function: it is the quartzite that works seamlessly within contemporary, minimalist, and industrial design vocabularies, providing the performance benefits of a Mohs 7–8 stone in a colour that pairs with almost everything.

At Stone Harbor, we source Dona Grey Quartzite directly from Rajasthan quarry operations and export in slab and block form to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. It is a consistent performer in specification projects where natural grey stone is required at commercial scale.

Origin & Composition

Dona Grey Quartzite is a metamorphic stone formed from sandstone that has undergone recrystallisation under sustained heat and pressure in Rajasthan’s geological formations. The stone’s characteristic cool grey colouration results from graphite, chlorite, and other grey-toned minerals distributed through the quartz matrix during metamorphism. The natural veining and tonal variation within the grey palette reflect the mineral diversity of the quarry source. As with all quartzites, the primary structural component is quartz at over 90% purity, which accounts for the stone’s hardness, scratch resistance, and low water absorption.

Applications

  • Kitchen Countertops: A natural complement to white, black, or wood cabinetry in contemporary and Scandinavian-influenced kitchen design.

  • Exterior Paving & Facades: The stone’s excellent weather resistance makes it suitable for outdoor paving, garden paths, and building facade cladding.
  • Bathroom Vanities: Clean, contemporary bathroom surfaces in grey tones.
  • Commercial Interiors: Office lobbies, retail environments, and hospitality spaces where a neutral, durable natural stone surface is specified at scale.

Dona Grey Quartzite is a stone for designers who understand the power of restraint — a cool, architecturally resolved grey that works in nearly any context and outlasts every competing surface material in its hardness class. At Stone Harbor, all material is sourced directly from Rajasthan quarry operations, inspected for colour consistency, and exported to client specifications.
