Crystallo Quartzite

Crystallo Quartzite is the flagship stone of one of the most celebrated quartzite families produced anywhere in the world. Sourced from Rajasthan, India — where in 2025 the Crystallo Rare variant was named Stone of the Year by the Natural Stone Institute — the Crystallo family is defined by a quality that most quartzites cannot offer: genuine translucency. Light passes through the crystalline quartz structure, creating a luminous, glowing quality that transforms applications ranging from kitchen countertops to backlit reception desks. The base Crystallo — a pure white to off-white ground with delicate veining — is the stone that underpins the entire family and the one most widely specified by architects and designers globally.

At Stone Harbor, we source Crystallo Quartzite directly from Rajasthan quarry operations and export in slab and block form to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

Origin & Composition

Crystallo Quartzite is a high-purity metamorphic quartzite quarried from a specific geological formation in Rajasthan, India. The stone’s exceptional clarity results from the near-complete recrystallisation of pure silica-rich sandstone during the metamorphic process, producing an interlocking quartz crystal structure with a purity that enables light transmission through the stone. This translucency distinguishes Crystallo from all conventional quartzites and from engineered quartz surfaces, which cannot replicate the natural crystalline glow. The stone’s white to off-white base with subtle golden, grey, or cream veining reflects the secondary mineral content introduced through its natural fracture systems during formation.

Technical Properties

  • Stone Type: Natural metamorphic quartzite (Crystallo family — flagship white variant)
  • Origin: Rajasthan, India
  • Colour: Pure white to off-white base with subtle golden, grey, or cream veining; icy translucent quality
  • Hardness: 7 – 8 on the Mohs scale (harder than marble at 3–4; comparable to or harder than granite)
  • Density: Approximately 2.65 g/cm³
  • Water Absorption: Very low — less than 0.4%
  • Heat Resistance: High — significantly more heat tolerant than marble
  • Scratch Resistance: Excellent — does not scratch under normal household or commercial use
  • Etching Resistance: Superior to marble — does not etch from acids or cleaning chemicals
  • Translucency: Good to high — the defining characteristic of the Crystallo family; enables backlit applications

Available Finishes

  • Polished: High-gloss mirror finish that maximises the stone’s luminous white clarity. Standard for countertops and feature walls.
  • Honed: Smooth matte finish for a softer, more understated white — preferred in minimalist interiors.
  • Leathered: Textured surface that adds tactile depth without diminishing the stone’s white character.
  • Brushed: Lightly textured finish that reduces surface reflectivity while maintaining the stone’s crystalline quality.

Sizes & Dimensions

  • Slab sizes: Standard gangsaw slab format; jumbo slabs available on request
  • Standard thickness: 20 mm and 30 mm
  • Custom countertop sizes, vanity tops, and wall panels on request
  • Blocks available for bookmatched and large-format feature installations

Applications

  • Kitchen Countertops: The premium choice for clients who want white marble aesthetics with quartzite’s superior scratch resistance, heat tolerance, and acid resistance.
  • Backlit Panels & Feature Walls: LED-backlit countertops, bar tops, and reception desks where the stone’s translucency creates a luminous glow impossible with any other material.
  • Bathroom Vanities & Shower Surrounds: Luxury bathroom surfaces that outperform white marble in wet-area durability.
  • Feature Walls & Bookmatched Installations: Symmetrical mirror-image installations in residences, hotel lobbies, and flagship commercial environments.
  • Flooring: Premium luxury flooring where a luminous white natural stone surface is specified.
  • Bar Tops & Reception Counters: High-use commercial surfaces where beauty and durability are equally non-negotiable.

Crystallo Quartzite is the natural stone that answers the most persistent question in luxury interior design: how to have the visual language of Italian white marble without marble’s practical limitations. The answer, with Crystallo, is definitive. At Stone Harbor, material is sourced from the verified Rajasthan quarry source and exported to client specifications. Custom quantities, finishes, and sizes are available. Contact us to discuss your project requirements.
