Rainforest Brown Marble is one of India’s most visually singular natural stones. Its defining characteristic is a network of organic, branch-like veining in deep reddish-brown and white running across a grey-brown base — a pattern that genuinely evokes the canopy of a forest floor when viewed from above. No two slabs carry the same veining composition, and no imported stone replicates the specific quality of this stone’s earthy, elemental presence. It is also known as Bidasar Brown, after the Bidasar quarry region of Rajasthan where it is primarily extracted.
At Stone Harbor, we source Rainforest Brown Marble from established quarries in Rajasthan and Udaipur and export in tile, slab, and block form to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. It is one of the most consistently sought-after stones in our marble range for clients who want something genuinely different from conventional white or grey options.
Origin & Composition
Rainforest Brown Marble — also known as Bidasar Brown — is a metamorphic stone quarried primarily from the Udaipur and Bidasar regions of Rajasthan, India. Its characteristic branch-like veining results from secondary mineral deposits of iron oxide, silica, and carbonite filling natural fracture systems within the grey-brown calcite-dolomite matrix over millions of years. The organic, tree-branch appearance of the veining is not a pattern artificially induced or enhanced — it is a direct expression of the stone’s geological history, which is why each slab is visually unique.
